This is a really cheap, versatile activity that my kids ended up loving! I just took a transparent page cover and criss-crossed some cute Duck Tape to make a bunch of spaces. I just color these in with a dry erase marker and "hide" pictures underneath. I've put sound-loaded pictures, pictures that allow me to ask WH questions, and pictures of items I can have the kids EET. As for uncovering the pictures, I've played a couple different versions so far. Generally I have the kids roll a die on the board and they get to erase whatever spaces it lands on, at which point I'll target whatever goal they're working on. For kids who like the competition, I'll have them try to uncover the most spaces before the end of speech. The kids have fun trying to roll so they get to erase multiple spaces, and they like trying to guess what they've uncovered. The only disadvantage is that it does take a few minutes to cover in the spaces, but if I have back-to-back sessions I'll leave the last two minutes or so of the session for the kids to color the squares in. They get a kick out of that!
